SEND Approach

Our vision at The Pavilion Study Centre is to provide an inclusive platform for children and young people with SEND, making their experience equal and fair. We are dedicated in ensuring access for all, to prepare children and young people for their futures; seeking to constantly improve attainment and growth for all, and secure the highest levels of accomplishment suitable to the individual learner. Pupils who have identified SEND needs are, as per the Code of Practice 2015, entitled to ‘inclusive education of disabled children and young people and the progressive removal of barriers to learning and participation in mainstream education’ (SEND Code of Practice 2015, p.25).

We work towards the following principles:

• To ensure SEND is a whole school responsibility requiring a whole school response

 • To identify, as early and accurately as possible, any pupils with additional needs and make appropriate provision in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice

• To ensure all pupils receive a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum

• To build partnerships between home and school and ensure children and their parents are treated with respect and have their views considered

• To liaise with other members of staff, governors and appropriate outside agencies in order to meet pupils’ needs effectively

• To provide quality support and advice for all staff working with pupils with SEND

• To ensure that children with SEND are admitted into the school in accordance with the whole school admissions policy
