Student from Pavilion Wins Student of the Year at Capel Manor
A Tremendous Achievement!
Matthew joined the Pavilion School when he was in year 8. He had suffered severe mental health illness. Once his recovery began, he was still unable to return to a mainstream setting and came to us.
He showed interest in our Friday morning woodland project and soon developed a positive relationship with Derek Wright, who ran it. Whilst his attendance throughout the week could vary, Matthew always made sure that he attended those sessions.
In Year 9, Matthew started to work towards his BTEC Land Based Studies. He enjoyed visiting Leahurst Nurseries in Arkley. His love of all things horticultural was becoming established.
This year, he has had an opportunity to attend Capel Manor 3 days a week, returning to us for more horticulture. To everyone’s delight, Matthew achieved Student of the Year! He has now been offered a full time course at Capel Manor.
By offering an enriching curriculum and enabling individuals to discover their interests, the Pavilion has achieved its goal of opening doors to a brighter future for its students
